Home SceneInterviewsCorona Corner VERITAS: QUARANTINE STORY

by Metal Jacket

In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. American band VERITAS share their Quarantine Story.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Doing good. We’re staying busy promoting our current cd, Threads of Fatality, and hard at work on the next one.

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Obviously we’ve cancelled shows for the time being but have been doing everything we can to get our music out for people to hear

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
It’s harder to promote new music without being able to play live. We can do a lot online but the fans that come to the shows and word of mouth is very important.

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
Just trying to keep engaged with them through social media and with the help of interviewers and reviewers it keeps us in fresh in peoples mind.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
The metal community is very strong and united. I think it will make a full comeback but slowly at first as venues test to see attendance.

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
Organizers and venue owners will probably have the hardest time. Organizers don’t have income currently and are still responsible for shows that were postponed. Venue owners still have to pay rent on properties that aren’t making any money. Most musicians, except the ultra famous, still have day jobs and still have some form of income.

What is your isolation soundtrack?
I haven’t been isolating much but some of what I’ve been listening to is Savatage, Nevermore, Queensryche, Testament, Judas Priest

Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
My life hasn’t really changed much other than shows being postponed. The area I live isn’t densely populated and although people are being cautious, it’s not been as bad as a heavy populated city like New York.

Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe! I have gotten together with our bassist Geno to work on music and shortly will be in the studio with Denny and our engineer working on 3 new songs! Thanks for the interview!
