Pjesme jednostavno nemaju dosadni trenutak.
Kroz instrumentalni dio glazba im nosi emotivnost i ugođaj bendova poput starijih ali i sad najnovijih uradaka BlutAusNorda i sličnih ali vokalni stil je više nalik onima iz švedskog ortodoksnog black metala poput Ofermorda i starijih uradaka Ondskapta. Kombinacija ovih dvije podvrsta ovdje djeluju više nego dobro.

The meaning of Selbst is a complete essence, one ideal magnitude which as a concept in a meaning of wholeness whichincludes conscious self.
According to the words of the front menof the band: ˝˝Lyrics in Selbst are a reflex of myself, my personal vision of everything around me; therefore, they express unconformity to all kind of dogmatism or divine devotion; they talk about how some people want to keep the others submissive, under their control.˝˝
This is the best way to open this review of the band I was listening in the last few days. This black metal project has started in Venezuela in 2010. After a demo and a few split releases, front-men of the band N who covers most of the instruments and the vocalist called Frozen finally releases a concrete work for Sun & Moon records at the end of 2015 under the name of An Ominous Landscape.
This is one of examples whenan EP has the strength and quality of a full length. Although the EP has only three songs, all of them have the energy and atmosphere to go on repeat and to lose the track of time. The songs don’t have any dull moments.
The instrumental parts, the music carry great emotions and fury of the bands such as BlutAus Nord (mostly their older works) but the vocal side is more akin to the Swedishorthodox black metal such as Ofermord and older Ondskapt. The combination of these two sub-genres fit in perfectly.
The lyrics here are fairly done, but personally having in mind the philosophy of the name of the band, they have barely scratched the surface. But again, it fits well here and somewhat falls on the side of the more dominating music and Frozen˙s howling vocals.
If you are a fan of a more melodic, melancholic black metal and especially the bands mentionedbefore, An Ominous Landscape will occupy your ears for a longer time until the band releases their first album this year.
