In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. Scottish bands was somehow always in shadow of English ones. Anyways, here one of the best Brutal Death Metal bands of this newer generation, in my opinion. Let’s see what about stuff connected with Covid-19 has to say vocalist of Scordatura, Daryl Boyce.
Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Hey thanks for having me! Yeah not bad thanks, just trying to take it one day at a time!
What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Thankfully we didn’t have to much panned for this year, we were suppose to be playing UK Deathfest in August but that has been postponed until 2021. This year we were more focusing on recording and releasing our 3rd album!
How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
All bands are on the same boat at the moment. No one can get out on the road touring, also loads of bands are losing a lot of cash because of all this! So now I think a lot of bands are now trying to think outside the box, live streams for practice room shows, Q&A streams etc.
How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
We’ve been posting some videos and pictures from our time recording album 3, also trying to interact as much as possible on our posts, We recently done a merch sale almost completely selling out of everything and I’ve put together a Spotify playlist so our fans can see what I’ve been checking out.
What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
To be honest it is hard to say but the support from the metal scene has been incredible through all of this, you can see loads of people trying to support the bands they love. Hopefully more people will start coming out to shows after all this is over as well!
Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
All are suffering pretty bad the now, venues are closing down, some bands might no even be able financially recover from this and promoters can’t exactly go and start booking loads of shows. So I think everyone is suffering together!
What is your isolation soundtrack?
I’ve actually had a fair bit of time to check out some new stuff but here are some albums that have been jamming quite a lot perdition temple, Desolation Usurper Helfró, Helfró Ulcerate, Stare into death and be still sinister deformation of the holy realm.
Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
I’m missing seeing my friends and family, missing getting to jam with the rest of the guys and missing getting to the outdoors for a bit of hiking.
Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
We’ve not had a full band practice since this has all started but, most of us have been managing to do some solo practicing, hopefully this will all start gradually getting back to normal so we can get back to jamming as a full band!
Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
Thanks very much for having me. stay safe!
