Löve Razër – Border City Rebels
Once upon a time, many, many years ago there existed a magical place called the Sunset Strip. Throughout the 1980’s, the “strip” was the epicenter of a long-gone era, when music was actually fun! Rock stars looked like rock stars, they partied like rock stars and they rocked the stages with presence and showmanship. It was the decade of decadence and the golden age of party rock. Unfortunately, the denim and leather, the studs and spandex were to be replaced in a sea of plaid and sadness.
Fast forward twenty or so years and you’ll find many bands trying to revive that same feel and spirit and Löve Razër are one of them… “This could be fun” – I thought as their look is a blend of Motley Crue 84′ and Faster Pussycat 87′. Where the hell are my headphones? I wanna hear this!
”Outlaw” is the album opener. Nothing new or innovative but great rockin’. And yeah! Skid Row influences can be heard.
There’s something in that cowbell that instantly gives song a punch and “Too Hot To Handle” is no exception. Sing-a-long choruses could be slightly better but the tempo change in the end is a great detail.
Next one is album’s first single. ”Venom” is 100% pure kick ass hard rocker, nothing more to say to be honest. A real head banger.
“Lifeline” has got a bluesy crunchy intro and probably the heaviest riff (or not?) on the album. Great melodic chorus accompanied with burnt out voice in style of Phil Lewis of LA Guns is exactly what is needed in rock ‘n’ roll.
In my humble opinion “Trip To Nowhere” is what Löve Razër is all about. Awesome riff, awesome melodic chorus… Everything about this song is awesome!
“Stuck Under You” is the second single. As the band has said, this is not typical 80’s power ballad. Pretty good song although maybe I wouldn’t choose it as a single.
A bit heavier riff on “Partied Out Freak” and quite a bit of double bass pedal. This may be the weakest track on a record (if that can even be said).
“Toxic Tears”… Ahh man! If this isn’t classic sleaze track of the 21st century (especially from somewhere between 2005 and 2012) I don’t know what is haha. That’s a great thing by the way! The song gets even better as it’s getting closer to the end.
Sadly, we don’t have a time machine and sadly, this and many other bands won’t get recognition they deserve. So it’s all up on us to keep these bands alive and at least try to make them as big as they can get in these years.
