Since there was a lot of stuff happening over the last week not related to this, like World Cup finals for example, Sleazy Sunday was not on as I couldn’t find enough time to write from all the hype haha.
This edition is a bit different since it’ll contain mostly pictures from Bang Your Head Festival which was awesome as always. Sadly, I won’t put pictures of all the bands that were there because it would be too much as there were bands such as Accept, Europe, Powerwolf, Doro, Pretty Maids, Overkill, Amorphis, Abbath, Loudness, Insomnium, Alestorm, Exodus, Annihilator, Primal Fear, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Reckless Love and many others so I’ll choose the ones that can fit into this column.
For those who don’t know (though I don’t think that there’s anyone who doesn’t know), Bang Your Head Festival is hard rock and metal festival held in Balingen, Germany since 1996 and has hosted acts such as W.A.S.P., Dio, Motörhead, Deep Purple, Europe, Whitesnake, Journey, Warrant and many others.
Now, let’s go with the alphabetical order.
Accept played 20 songs which included songs such as “Teutonic Terror”, “I’m A Rebel”, “Burning” and of course “Balls To The Walls”. The area was packet and the atmosphere was insane.
Sleaze legends Crashdïet played slightly shorter set with hits such as “Riot In Everyone”, “It’s A Miracle”, “Breakin’ The Chainz” and “Generation Wild”. They also included rare demo from Dave Lepard days “Miss Pain”. Don’t really think there’s need to write how awesome the show was.
Another band from ”The New Wave of Hair Metal” Crazy Lixx have played concert that was in some ways special for them as they used pyro for the first time! Hits like “Heroes Are Forever”, “XIII”, “Wild Child”, “Rock And A Hard Place”, “Girls Of The 80’s” were played and the show was literally lit! Oh, and let’s all remember their live album ”Sound Of The Live Minorty” recorded here at Bang Your Head Festival in 2015.
Doro does not need an introduction, everybody knows her. Her set consisted mostly of Warlock songs such as “All We Are”, “Burning The Witches” and “Metal Tango” with the exception of Judas Priest’s “Breakin’ The Law”.
Melodic rockers Eclipse played ten songs set which included the opener “Never Look Back”, “Wake Me Up”, “The Downfall Of Eden” and “I Don’t Wanna Say I’m Sorry”.
Europe are an absolute legends and there is no doubt about it. Songs such as “Rock The Night”, “Carrie”, “Superstitions”, “Cherokee” and “The Final Countdown” everyone knows and obviously they were part of their set at Bang Your Festival as well as some of the newer songs such as “Last Look At Eden” and “War Of Kings”.
And third modern glam/sleazers at this festival are Reckless Love. The Finns are known for their catchy, some would say even poppy sound but also for excellent shows and this one was not exception. With hits such as “Hot”, “Born To Break Your Heart”, “So Happy I Could Die”, “Night On Fire”, “We Are The Weekend” and others they were definitely a band to see.
Really can’t wait for next year’s edition and to see which bands will be on and if you have the opportunity go there and see it, pretty sure you won’t regret it!
And the video of the week (16th to 22nd of July) is obviously:
