In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. Atlanta based melodic metal band Sennight speak their Quarantine Story.
Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Doing well actually, have mostly kept busy. Of course, we’re all bummed about all shows being cancelled, especially because 2020 was shaping up to be one of the best years for tours in recent memory.
What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
We haven’t cancelled much but we haven’t booked anything either.
How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
Obviously, it’s a total disaster. Since physical music products are nearly extinct, the only way to earn is through touring and that has effectively been put on ice.
How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
Simply trying to create and release more material, that seems to be the main option for the band at the moment. However, some are waiting to release songs for when they can tour in support of the new music, which also makes sense.
What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
Metal shows will probably be some major bangers for awhile upon reopening because we’ll all be thankful to be back at it.
Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters… Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
It hasn’t been particularly easy on anyone.
What is your isolation soundtrack?
Some mix of Kamelot, Katatonia, Jorn, Rainbow, Trees of Eternity, Finntroll, Metsatoll 8.
Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
I miss all the great tours we were supposed to catch this year.
Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
Small one on one rehearsals mostly and we’ve had some meetups with potential new members.
Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
