Industrial Groove Metal Band from El Paso, Tx, Scattered Storm, joined Corona Corner. Jay Arriaga (drums, producer) shares his quarantine experience.
Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Hi there! Doing good. Surviving and writing a lot of music, putting out a lot of music as well. Finally putting out the Scattered Storm EP which was like three years in the making due to busy schedules from all band members.
What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Fortunately not with this band since it was barely in the works
How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
Mostly financially, but I think the fact that there are no shows to relieve all the stress of common life has affected everyone more. Not being able to interact live with fans is really really missed.
How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
Extensive social media interaction. Thank you technology!!!
What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
Hungrier and angrier than ever!! A lot of metalheads have this stored stress, anxiety from not being able to headbang and mosh properly in a live setting. I think as a whole we have become more appreciative of all the things that made life bearable.
Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
Everyone in the industry. Me being a promoter, musician and live production tech felt all the struggles of not being to make a living of what I love the most.
What is your isolation soundtrack?
Mostly writing my own music.
Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
All the stuff we took for granted. Simple mundane shit like going to a restaurant, a bar or the movies.
Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
Not during the quarantine. As soon as everyone got vaccinated, live rehearsals started to happen
Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
Thanks a lot for featuring us!
