The long-running Ri Rock Festival underwent a transformation last year and launched its new generation sailboat in fresh music waters. This year’s 41st edition of the festival will continue the journey on the same horizon and bring an extremely rich music program through two Advent weekends in December to Rijeka residents and their guests. The most important news is that the festival is opened for musicians from all of Croatia. The Ri Rock Association bows the festival to wider spectrum of musicians, so the “demo festival” will go into the “alternative festival” which will further enrich the concept of the festival and thus provide greater and better support to the musicians of the scene this festival presents.
Applications for 41st Ri Rock
From this year, for the first time young bands from all over Croatia can apply, so the opportunity to perform in front of a wide audience will go to 6 bands from the Primorsko-goranska county and Istrian county and 2 other bands from all over the country. The festival will give young people a chance to perform and play along the big names of the Croatian music scene. Names of the selected bands will be announced after the applications have been completed. Applications are open from October 24 until October 31, 2019 until 11:59 pm, and only original bands can apply (cover bands will not be taken into account).
Ri Rock statuette
The event, which takes place on the second day of the festival, Saturday night, December 7th, is a festive evening with the Ri Rock Statuette Awards. The nominees in the categories will be musicians who have, according to the opinion of the Ri Rock Association, in the past year, emphasized their hard work on the stage and the scene. The winners of each category will be selected by an expert jury composed of relevant experts from Rijeka musicians, concert organizers, media representatives and members of the Ri Rock Association. The closing nights of the festival, which will take place at the Pogon Kulture on December 13 and 14, will be held alongside guest appearances of the famous names of the Croatian scene and performances of this year’s winners of the 3 main Ri Rock Statuette Award categories. Saturday will also have an official “after party” and a concert for the fans of heavier notes with several more underground bands that will take place at OKC Palach.
Visitors will have the opportunity to listen to over 20 bands through 4 days at the OKC Palach and Pogon Kulture. The festival will feature: Psihomodo Pop, Edo Maajka and Bend, Krankšvester, Goblini, SixPack, Zdenka Kovačiček and Greenhouse blues band, Debeli Precjednik, Sexymotherfuckers, My Buddy Moose, Krešo i kisele kiše, The Siids, The Black Room and more than 10 young bands.
