Our Survival Depends on Us – Melting the Ice in the Hearts of Men
Three years have passed since last album of OSDoU, when “Scouts on the Borderline Between the Physical and Spiritual World” came out, that material proved that band are in great shape to make some good sludge/doom metal sound.
This time reason for review is their brand new, fourth full-length called “Melting the Ice in the Hearts of Men”. Quite good material, but I must be honest, this one didn’t touched me like previous album.
On “Melting the Ice in the Hearts of Men” everything is on it’s place; yet again guys from band provide great production for their fans, but simply for me this material doesn’t possess that “something” that will keep me on it.
But in any case if you are fan of this kind of sound you must check this out, it will probably be on your “a must” list for 2019.
I must put highlights on drum parts and their sound. On this one drumming is pure perfectionism, their role as a main rhythmic section of the band on this one is putted on the first place and they are doing their job perfectly.
On guitar parts, there has been few good moments, but for band of this fame, that moments need to be always on, not just in some passages.
Vocal on this material in some parts reminds me on A.A. Nemtheanga’s voice, from Primordial fame. But here there is not that passion all the time, like we can find it on Primordial. Nevertheless, vocals of this material suits their music style very well.
As I told before in this review, this album is not my favourite for opening the 2019 but if you find yourself as a fan of doomish sludge music, this will be ear-candy for you, be sure in that.
