From the very beginning of the creation of the Black Metal genre, I have not been able to connect with it like with other genres, but for the last couple of years, I have to admit, I have found myself increasingly feeling some attraction to the genre. Whether my taste is changing or some of the leading bands in the genre have brought something new to the genre, time will show.

In the case of the band Nox Formulae I could say the same. Listening to the new album, you can pretty much feel the impact of the bands I mentioned earlier. In their music, I could notice the theatricality and the band does that well. The band uses all the resources that genre can give, and we are all witnessing that Black Metal has no boundaries. Sometimes I wonder why some bands are defined as Black Metal at all, but to speak the truth – I don’t care.

Nox Formulae would probably be characterized as Atmospheric / Industrial / Black Metal, but again who cares. The most important for the band is not to get bored while listening the whole album, and Nox Formulae achieved that aim.

The vocals perfectly fit with the music and  catchy howls makes you feel like you are on the road to Satan. Clean vocals  emphasize theatrical atmosphere. Everything leans on theatrical atmosphere, which is pretty common with that kind of bands.

I can’t help myself not to write that Nox Formulae at some parts reminds me on Behemoth, but if it’s something good why to change it? At the other hand, the band express their ideas on specific way.
