This instance of metal event “ZloSTavljanje”, held at Kocka, has hosted 3 energetic bands. The first are already well-known to us – Split’s oldschool death metal band Klyast, the second were the melodic / technical death metal from Split – Orka, and the last but certainly not least, were fierce death / grind guys from Pula – Dropthehammer.
At around 23:15, first band on stage was Klyast. Although the audience was small, the guys started their show in full force. The band played their own material which is identified as old school death metal. After a long time, the band performed with a bass guitar played by the vocalist. It is evident that the vocalist is new to playing bass guitar so the rhythm section was not consistent in some parts of certain songs. Communication with the audience and stage performance, however, were at a good level.
After Klyast, on the stage went up the local band Orka. They were technically almost perfectly rehearsed and very energetic. The audience responded well to the whole show with a lot of support. The band also recently released its first demo album “Whispers Of A Hidden Fear” (2017). It is, sadly, well known that the acoustics at Kocka are quite bad, but the band sounded surprisingly well and all instruments and vocals were clear.
The last band of the evening was death / grind metal from Pula – Dropthehammer. In the first few minutes, the band had technical difficulties with sound. It seemed as if they didn’t have a sound check and they just got on stage unprepared. Despite the difficulties, the band had a well-rehearsed and energetic performance. Communication with the audience was also very well. They played their own material from the album “Abortus Dei” (2017). The audience’s endurance was very good as well as positive reactions.
All in all, an excellent and energetic evening at Kocka. As always, there was the great DJ Wera who took care of the playlist and made sure nobody would be bored before the concert, between bands and after the concert.
