Monday the 30th of April 2018 we had a great pleasure seeing Sannhet and Sum Of R at Klub Močvara in Zagreb; and safe to say we had a very posty night. A nice amount of people showed up and the atmosphere of the whole place was pretty relaxed which I extremely love with this kind of gigs.
First to the stage were the Swiss duo Sum Of R, a instrumental band formed in 2008 that takes a lot of influences from drone, doom, ambient, noiserock, psychedelic and cinematic post-rock which you can diffidently hear in their music. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that only two people can make such a great show; with a set that lasted for about 50 minutes you could really see the ambiental part in their performance. They managed to keep the crowd interested the whole time and did a great show with a lot of drone effects and really relaxing music; safe to say duo did an amazing job.
Following Sum Of R was Sannhet the Brooklyn trio from USA a band which genre is pretty hard to define since they also dabble in a lot of genres; they started out as black metal but ended up in somewhat of a post rock genre while still mixing different elements. The band had extremely aesthetic lights which made the whole atmosphere pretty special since not a lot of bands do that. Music wise everything was on a really nice and professional level with everything sounding like a well composed whole which was satisfying to listen to. They were also promoting their third album “So Numb” which if you haven’t you should really give it a listen. It was a pretty refersing transition between bands since Sum Of R had a sort of slower style and Sannhet had a faster flow. They are two bands that really give a good example that you don’t need vocals to keep your music interesting. Taking everything into consideration it was a truly great show.
