It has been more than a year since the Norwegian prog attraction played in front of Croatian audience. Leprous brought 90 minutes of their progressive craftsmanship. Along with them on their European leg were Agent Fresco and 22. Each band played their own variation of progressive rock combined with a wide array of influences and sounds.
Right on time at 20:15, band 22 enters the stage. This 4-piece band from Norway did a great 30-minute job as a support act. Very tight and great sound as well as clean singing from the vocalist. After their performance crowd went outside of the venue to catch some fresh air.
Next on stage was Icelandic band Agent Fresco. Last time they played in Zagreb was two years ago at Culture Factory in Zagreb. Once again, they played their 50-minute set in front of full venue. They started their set with song “Howls” from their last, 2015 album “Destrier”. To date, they have released two studio albums and the next is already in the making. Closing of the show was reserved for songs “Eyes of the Cloud Catcher” and “Autumn Red”. They thanked and invited the Croatian audience to take pictures with them at the Merch stall.
At 22:25 10-minute cello intro calls Einar, Tor, Robin, Baard, Simen to the stage. They started their set with song “Bonneville” from their new studio album “Malina”. “Illuminate”, “From the Flame” and “The Flood” were highlights of the show and it was time to show how Croatian fans can compete with Einar’s stellar vocal skills. During song “The Price” energy was at its highest. Band was called for more and on the first encore they played “The Weight of the Disaster” and “Mirage”. This was not enough for fans, so band played “Slave”, my favourite Leprous song. Band was obviously overjoyed by the reception and thanked all Croatian fans for showing up.
All in all, promoter did a great job with organising this concert, but the downside is lack of air conditioning in the venue.
