Pero Defformero: Quarantine Story

by Mislav Mihaljević

In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. The retrained turbo folk singer Goran Biševac Biške of legendary Serbian Hipster/Folk/Death/Djent/Turbo-Symphonic/Gastarbeit Metal attraction Pero Defformero, and some other similar attractions, talks to Metal Jacket Magazine about his ways of surpassing isolation.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
I’m having a great time! I bought a Sony PS4 long time ago, and I didn’t have the time to even turn it on because of all the obligations. Finally, the days have come to see what that console has to offer. Besides that, I’m drinking a lot of liquids (read: beer), so I visit the toilet from time to time… Just to see if everything is okay over there 🙂

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Unfortunately, we had to cancel two shows in Serbia, and one in Slovenia, but this time will pass, and we will clean out our leftovers soon.

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
Well, it definitely does not affect them in a good way. Many musicians live and pay bills by playing music. Then yet, people will get hungry for live performances, and when the isolation ends, all the venues will be crowded again 🙂

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
Just like most of the other bands. There is YouTube to reminds us about the good old times. This period is also a perfect to find some information you didn’t know about the band you like, just by using Google.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
To tell the truth, everything will be the same, just the way it was before. One foot on the speaker, and Marshalls blowing up the rooftops… But I do think metal music needs a good refreshment!

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
We are all collateral victims of this whole situation! Audience included!

What is your isolation soundtrack?
I discovered a great new band coming from Bulgaria. They don’t really play metal music, but the band kicks ass. Just type “ALI – I Come From The Future”, and see for yourselves.

Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
Travelling around, visiting all the beautiful places… and dear, familiar faces from the audience as well!

Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
No rehearsals whatsoever! Fuckin’ police hour!

Thank you for your time, Biške! Stay safe!
Thank you very much for this little chat. Take care of yourselves as well. We will see each other again when this madness meets it’s end!
