In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. Peter P. (Guitars – Keyboards) from greek band ORRA shares his Corona experience with us today.
Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Not that hard, in terms of creativity as we had the chance to be artistically focused without any restrictions in terms of preparing or recording our music. On the other hand, regarding our every-day routine many things have changed drastically but even so, we usually try to turn Negative Thoughts into Positive Actions.
What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Not many things except the release of our debut album, which was delayed. He werent on a tight schedule though, because “Unbounded” is our first albumανδ it is also self-released.
How is the global coronavirus pandemic directly impacting bands?
It seems that many bands were heavily influenced by the lack of live shows etc.Nowadays everyone is complaining about this because for some(generally established bands) this is themain source of income. Bans on large gatherings, affects the industry. At the same time many artists fail to to use touring to promote new albums, and recordings are also dramatically affected.
How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
We are trying to promote our debut album(Unbounded),as well as working on new ideas for a future release.
What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
Well this is hard to tell. There is a chance of the post-pandemic outlook to appear more challenging and live music or discography will be revised significantly. Creative artists will endure. On the other hand, there is a tense of over-reliance on past glory and those who embrace it are usually the least creative ones.
Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
As mentioned previously, the least creative will suffer more.
What is your isolation soundtrack?
Fake news, TV-brainwashing, Negative vibes and occasionally some music.
Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
Ah !the usual stuff, you know:Handshakes, coming to work sick ,breathing normally, travelling, positivity etc.
Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like? Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
We kept rehearsing up to a minimum level. We were focused on recordings, though.
Thank you for the support.Cheers!
