Danish saxophonist Mette Rasmussen will take the stage before the long awaited performance of Godspeed You! Black Emperor on the 22nd of Novmeber in Tvornica kulture. She was born and raised in Denmark, but she lives and composes for years in Trondheim, Norway. She has been constantly touring for the last 6 years during which she was performed in Australia, Japan, Singapore, USA, Canada, Russia, Great Britain and Europe.
Her ability to move between the often strict borders of the genre and to explore the sounds and textures in solo performances, as well as in collaborations, was the foundation for creating her own view on role of the saxophone in music. She constantly explores all the rawness of her own instrument to explore his possibilities of expression and to express it in her free jazz, while her energetic performances connect the audience and the artist, thus synthesize the energy created between them.
Last few years she has been on tour with Godspeed You! Black Emperor around Australia and the USA, drummer Chris Corsan (Six Organs of Admittance, Kim Gordon, Björk) throughout Europe and Japan, Sofia Jernberg (Swedish experimental singer and composer) around Australia, with her own quintet which consists of Torbjörn Zetterberg and Johan Berthling on bass, Raymond Strid and Paul Lytton on drums, Ken Vandermark, Fire! Orchestra and many other jazz musicians.
