Tony Lazaro, founding guitarist and only original remaining member of Vital Remains, needs our help. Kristen Conti started Fundraiser to help out. Read more below!
Our friend Tony needs us to rally for him….many of you know Tony from the RI music scene as well as the guitarist for the band Vital Remains – he is a friend to many around the globe. Tony and Tasha have always been there for me and many others, I’m hoping we can help them in their time of need and alleviate some of the pressure and stress that they’re going through.
Many of you also know that Tony has been recently in the hospital – a couple of times. Since the beginning of the year, he had been having headaches that were getting worse as time went on and they were starting to affect his vision. On April 20th, he lost all vision and was rushed to RI Hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain tumor (benign thankfully). He immediately had a hole drilled into his head to relieve the pressure the tumor was causing. He then went through 2 separate surgeries to have the tumor removed and 2 more surgeries to block the spinal fluid from leaking into his nasal cavity. He spent 30 days in the hospital and then 5 days at rehab. He was also diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes which he now has 4 insulin injections per day.
He then came home for a couple of weeks and had a terrible cough, he was rushed back to the hospital on June 20th because his spinal fluid was leaking into his nasal cavity due to all the coughing. He was then diagnosed with meningitis. He’s been treated with antibiotics and had yet ANOTHER surgery to repair the drainage. He’s still in the hospital and will hopefully be home in a few days. We will update as we go along.
Needless to say, the past couple of months have taken a toll on us all, but it’s especially taken a toll on Tony and Tasha. Tony of course can’t work and Tasha will need to be his caretaker until he is able to get up and around by himself.
His recovery will take some time and I know they have mounting medical bills every day as well as their regular household bills. Tony and Tasha have always been there for me and many others, I’m hoping we can rally around them in their time of need and help alleviate some of the pressure and stress that they’re going through.
All funds raised will go to Tony’s medical bills and their household bills.
