Lined: Quarantine Story

by Ivona Bogner

In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. Melodic Death/Thrash Metal band Lined, released their second album “Soulcrifice” on June 12. Today, they share their Quarantine Story from Arrasate, Basque Country.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Hello everyone and thanks for having us! We are doing great, we had no health issues in any of our family members, so not that bad. And as a band we just released our second album called “Soulcrifice” on June 12, so we are very happy in that sense also.

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Well, like we said before we have just released our second album “Soulcrife”, so we had some gigs to star the presentation of our work, and obviously we had to postpone them in some cases and cancel in other cases. Nowadays we are working on restructuring all the shows and remaking our calendar as a group so we can make a proper presentation of the CD.

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
As we all know the global coronavirus pandemic has had, is having and will have a very big impact in our economy, generally talking. And the culture section is not going to be less, being the music bands one of the most affected in this field. A lot of canceled shows, with all that this means, lack of rehearsals, no earnings… and in the metal genre that we belong to more, because as we all know is not a popular genre among the population. Obviously for the established bands is a big blow, and for bands that are starting to somehow get known is devastating. We all hope the situation will recover soon, and in some way we will enjoy again of our music.

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
We released “Soulcrifice” on June 12, so before that, and during the chaotic period we were releasing a video clip of one of our song, a lyric video… so all of our fans could listen what was coming.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
We hope that the Metal scene will re-emerge with full force again, like a phoenix rise. We will come back stronger for sure; we the metalheads are used to coming back from difficult situations!

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
In our opinion all the section have had an enormous blow, so from now on we have to try all together to create again the scene that we had before the entire coronavirus situation.

What is your isolation soundtrack?
Our isolation soundtrack would be, with any kind of doubt, “Slaughter of the Soul” by At The Gates.

Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
We just had the opportunity to start again with the rehearsals. So beside gigs, we had miss the most being together creating songs, or rehearsing songs, spending time together.

Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
During the quarantine we didn’t had any rehearsals, but everybody in his own place did their homework, so didn’t went that bad. Lined will come back stronger than ever!!!

Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
Thanks again for having us, it´s been a pleasure. Stay safe!
