Knecht: Quarantine Story

by Metal Jacket

Joe Knecht is, as he says:  “a metal guitarist who plays everything from classic rock to more modern progressive metal”. Read his story in our Corona Corner.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
I’m doing alright, I am lucky that not much has changed for me as far as my lifestyle goes.

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
I was going to start playing around bars a year ago but then the lockdowns happened which killed that plan.  Had tickets to the 2020 MMRBQ which had a great lineup, that was also canceled.

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
People could not gig or hold large events and meetups.  So a lot of people, myself included, moved to doing a lot of stuff online.

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
By being more active on social media more and communicating that way.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
With everyone shedding at home the bar for technical playing will be higher then before.

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
Venues, we can still upload music, make videos and stream.  If you can’t have live shows how can they keep their doors open?

What is your isolation soundtrack?
A mix of Prog Metal, Classic Rock and folk music.

Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
