Intervju Gulnar (A.H.P.): Pravi i istinski interes za Black metal je nestao. Sada je vrijeme facebookera

by Vjeran

MJM: Pozdrav, možeš li nam predstaviti A.H.P.?

Album nosi naziv ‘Against Human Plague’.

coverMJM: Možeš li nam reći nešto više o samom albumu “Against Human Plague”?

MJM: Možeš li opisati glazbu A.H.P.-a svojim riječima?

Gulnar:  Riječ je o obradama bendova War i Beherit. . Nisam želio obraditi niti jednu njihovu metal pjesmu jer to danas svi rade. Nema puno bendova koji obrađuju njihove ambijentalne stvari i zato sam ja to napravio. Također radeći Black metal i Ambient obrade zadržavam Black metal/ Ambient koncept albuma.

Tada nisu mnogi mislili o novcu. današnji klinci download-aju cijelu diskografiju u 10 minuta i podržavaju bend klikom na “like”.

Gulnar:  Podžite A.H.P. i kupite “Against Human Plague” putem Via Nocturna web trgovine.

MJM: Hvala ti na intervjuu.

Gulnar: Hvala tebi.

(english version)

MJM: Hi, can you introduce A.H.P. for those who are not familliar with your work?

Gulnar: I am Gulnar . Leader of Black Schizophrenic Metal horde ILLNESS and A.H.P. is my side project. We started as a duo but after recording ‘Demo 2012’, vocalist quit the band. I was looking for a proper replacement but I couldn’t find one so it became my solo project. Polish label Via Nocturna has just released A.H.P.’s debut album entitled ‘Against Human Plague’ on cd format

MJM: Is there a story behind band name?

Gulnar: There is no story behind the name. A.H.P. means Against Human Plague. I used to use the whole version in the past but after a while I ve changed it to A.H.P. I wanted name of the project to be very clear in meaning but not typical one word name.

coverMJM: Last Your first album “Against Human Plague”, is out. Can you tell us something more about that record (were did you recorded it, who produced it…)?

Gulnar: The album was partly recorded at my Paranoic abyss Studio in Norway partly recorded and fully produced in Monroe Sound Studio in Poland by Arkadiusz Aro Jabłoński who also played bass on the album. It is a mixture of black metal in the 90’s vein and dark ritual ambient. You can compare it to alcohol or drug high. It is very intensive in the beginning and the longer it last the heavier it gets. Everything ends up in hangover which is final Emotional Ecstasy. Album is dedicated to Black Moon.

MJM: Your personal favorites from the record?

Gulnar: Drowned was official chosen by the label to promote “Against Human Plague”song but I think I like the title track best cause this song express basic instincs. I also like ” Dungeon of Rotting Corpses” cause it was first ambient track that I ever made for A.H.P. Of Course it’s only my personal impression.

MJM: Can you describe A.H.P. music in your own words? In a promo material it says it is described as mixture of suicidal black metal and dark ambient music. Do you agree with that description?

Gulnar: I call it Black Scar ambient. Actually there are only two songs that can be describe suicidal in my opinion but like I said earlier it is maybe my own private impression. I dont care some much about how people call my music. Music will always speaks for it self.

MJM: Who did the cover artwork and what does it represents?

Gulnar: Cover was made by Gragoth from Luciferium War Graphics. It is a very dark picture that represents my disgust and scorn towards humanity.

MJM: As you are the only bend member, are you planing to do live shows with session musicians?

Gulnar: We will see in the future maybe I will complete whole line up cause A.H.P. was not supposed to be solo project, it was more accidental as I mentioned above…

MJM: Your musical influences?

Gulnar: I listen to a lot of different kinds of music but my roots are in metal ofcourse. A.H.P. is based on second wave of black metal which is my main interest. I also like soundtrack music, industrial, dark electro and even some rock stuff just to name few.

MJM: What are your lyrics about?

Gulnar: Lyrics are mainly based on true stories of mine or people that I know. Some of them express my disgust towards humanity, some of them are telling about addictions and personal problems. They are very personal so you cant find them in the booklet.

MJM: You have two cover songs on album, why have you choose that songs to cover?

Gulnar: There are covers of War and Beherit. ‘Against Human Plague’ is dedicated to Blackmoon whoA.H.P. logo created War, and ‘Satan’s Millenium’ is the best track on their debut album. Thats why I chose it. When it comes to Beherit, I decided to do their cover cause, they are one of the first bands who played Black Metal and Ambient. I didnt want to cover any metal song of theirs cause everybody does that nowadays. There’s not much bands who covers their ambient songs. Thats why I did it. Also by doing doing black metal and ambient covers I kept Black metal/Ambient concept of the album.

MJM: What is your opinion on Black metal scene? Can you compare today´s scene with one in nineties?

Gulnar: Long subject… Black metal scene is so over grown that I am really not sure about which sub genre you ask about, also is it about underground BM or mainstream one?. There’s nothing to compare. Both scenes are completely different. The one in the nineties was created by devoted people. It wasn’t treated like just another type or style of metal. It was something unique underground and not for everybody. People were  trading tapes, supporting local bands all that stuff…. Not many of them were thinking about money back then. Today kids download whole discographies in 10 minutes and support their local bands by clicking ‘like’ button. Those who lived for it (luckly not all of them)  are replaced by idiots who thinks that releasing album in 500 copies already make them some kind of a stars. Real and main interest is gone. Now its time of facebookers.

MJM: Is there anything else you would like to add?

Gulnar: Support  A.H.P. Buy “Against Human Plague” debut album at Via Nocturna’s web store.

MJM: Thank you for the interview.

Gulnar: Thank you
