In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. In front of band Evil Blood, Bat Connan speaks about his days spent in isolation.
Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Its been hard without rehearsals and gigs because music is a 24/7 lifestyle for me.
What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
Evil Blood had to cancel about 10 gigs and a few festivals this year but we may be able to re-schedule a few of the gigs when lock down is over.
How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
I was talking with my mates and other bands, I think its hitting bands quite bad. However, Evil Blood should recover quickly and our last Album “Bat out of Goat Hell” still doing great on download. So finances for my part is fine.
How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
To be honest fans are keeping us relevant in the underground scene. I was offered a new record deal a few months ago with Dying Victims Lable, which I said no to. Downloads doing good.
What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
Lock down has had a few ups for “Evil Blood” as it has given me time to write a couple of new albums, it has given me time to reflect! I did not even have time to get out of my housecoat…ha ha ha ha.
Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
Promoters will suffer most I would say, but perhaps quite a lot of others.
What is your isolation soundtrack?
My new song “Only death is real”….I play it everyday as do band members.
Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
I miss my friends, family and band members. Also places I frequent with my wife.
Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
We cant do rehearsals at present, but I sent band member’s home work over the net, at least we can still communicate thanks to modern technology. I have a new Axe in my arsenal. To keep me sane ha ha.
