Hellhammer of Mayhem to miss upcoming tour

by Mislav Mihaljević

Due to a severe shoulder infection, the legendary Mayhem drummer Hellhammer will be forced to miss “The Decibel Magazine Tour” over North America, which begins in two days in Denver, CO. Replacing him on this trek will be very well-known and experienced drummer Tony Laureano.

Mayhem posted the following statement:

Due to a severe shoulder infection caused by osteoarthritis that has plagued Hellhammer for quite some time now, he will unfortunately not be able to perform on the upcoming North America tour. He has been working with a physiotherapist for the last couple of months in the hopes that he would be fully healed before the tour, but has ultimately been ordered to rest for some more weeks.

Filling in for Hellhammer will be Tony Laureano, who has a prestigious track record as a session and drummer for a number of other bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Nile, Angelcorpse, Malevolent Creation, God Dethroned, Acheron, Belphegor, 1349, Brujeria, etc.

“The Decibel Magazine Tour” celebrates its ninth annual run with the ambitious pairing of legendary Norwegian black metal progenitors Mayhem with their countrymates of black ‘n’ roll heroes Abbath. Arizona desert death dealers Gatecreeper and goth-infused metal upstarts Idle Hands round out a diverse and devastating line-up!

Mayhem will return to North America for the first time in support of “Daemon”, their new record, which has been universally hailed as their greatest since the band’s genre-defining debut, while the former Immortal frontman Abbath crabwalks back to the States and Canada in support of his band’s stunning new Oustrider album.
