Exit: Quarantine Story

by Ivona Bogner

In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. For me Switzerland has always been known for: Gotthard (band and tunnel), Swiss Army Knife, Nestlé, Milka, rösti, Heidi, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Coroner, Samael, and after this interview I will add Mart4Finger and Exit on that list.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
Hello guys. We are doing quite so far. Everybody is healthy and that’s the most important thing for the moment.

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
We had planned to play a few gigs in the Baltic States and Finland in fall, but this has now been postponed until next year. And a few other gigs abroad were planned but were postponed.

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
We believe, that this virus has an impact on to get shows, especially next year. It will make it harder to get gigs next year.

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
Fortunately we had the opportunity to give a concert at short notice to present our new CD and to organize a live stream of the concert to keep, so that everyone had the chance to watch it.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
We think that the music will not change but how it will be marketed. Bands are gaining experience in live streaming and video technology, we believe this will still play a big role in the future.

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
This is hard to say, it depends on how the situation with the virus develops and on the situation of each individual.

What is your isolation soundtrack?
We mostly listened to new material from local bands. They had also time to produce new songs.

Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
A life without Corona virus, to meet friends and new people without a queasy feeling.

Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
No, we stopped rehearsing for a while so as not to take any risks. Everyone was practicing for themselves at home.

Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
You’re welcome! Thanks for your interest in our music and stay safe.
