Riverside & Lesoir @ Dom Omladine Beograda, 13.3.2019
ožujak 13 @ 20:00 - 23:551700RSD – 2400RSD
Polish progers Riverside and their special guest, Holland art rockers Lesior, will play in Dom omladine Beograda on the 13th of March.
Riverside have been around since 2001. They have released 7 albums and held countless concerts around the globe. On this tour, the band will be supporting their new album “Wasteland” which was released on September 28th via Inside Out Music. The band’s visual identity was flawlessly implemented by well known artist Travis Smith (Opeth, Katatonia, Devin Townsend, Anathema, Amorphis), a long term associate of the band. This is the first outing of the band since becoming a trio, following a tragic loss of their guitarist and founding member Piotr Grudzinski, who died in 2016.
Singer and main composer, Mariusz Duda, recalls:
I remember the moment when we first announced that we will be continuing as a trio. Many of our fans find it impossible to accept an album without Grudziena. We wanted to keep playing live and also write new songs, to honor our friend.
Duda had already conceived a concept in his head, it would be a story of dealing with tragedy.
I had a feeling that we would eventually be ok and we will be able to create something special.
It was Duda who played the guitar parts on this new album, with contributions from Maciej Meller who plays live with the band, as well as talented young musician Mateusz Owczarek.
Keyboardist Michał Łapaj said:
Wasteland is definitely one of the darkest and most emotional albums we’ve done. We are definitely having a second life right now, and we have thus deliberately added references from our second album Second Life Syndrome from 2005.
The main theme of Wasteland is survival after The Apocalypse.
Drummer Piotr Kozieradski said:
I never thought that after 17 years and 6 albums, I would feel like we’re recording for the first time ever. Wasteland is just as important as our debut record Out of Myself. This is a much heavier and darker Riverside.
Having all this in mind, the band has announced that the set will again feature songs from the beloved “Out of Myself” and its successor “Second Life Syndrome”. They have prepared a live arrangement of the entire “Wasteland” album, supported by their most ambitious lighting decorations so far. They have also announced guest appearances by many musicians. It seems like that will be a treat for all fans of atmospheric prog rock, as well as lovers of heavy riffs.
Lesoir, art rock band from Holland, will perform as a special guests in support of their fourth studio album “Latitude”, which is not merely a skillfully crafted illusion: it indeed mandates the very three-dimensional shape of reality that other records only pretend to have. With “Latitude”, they have succeeded in creating some kind of singular magic. In that context, having a wizard like John Cornfield behind the soundboard certainly came in more than handy. Among other multiple other achievements, Cornfield is the man responsible for Muse’s legendary sound on the Absolution album.
But that is not all, the band added The Pineapple Thief-frontman Bruce Soord as co-producer. The cooperation provided the songs with another dimension of depth that the complex compositions could be placed into. Never before have Maartje (vocals, flute, piano), Eleën (vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Ingo (guitar), Bob (drums) and Ingo (bass) managed to get to the heart of their music in a more precise way.
So, don’t miss the show because “Latitude” bursts with liveliness and shatters the borders, opening up entirely new dimensions of music! Get your ticket as soon as possible via the network of Eventim or Gigstix.
