After twelve years, the legendary progressive metal masters, Evergrey, will return to Zagreb. The Swedes who come from probably the “most metal” city in the world have a lot of fans in Croatia and they will prove it on Easter’s Monday in Močvara. Also, they will come in support of three bands – Bloodred Hourglass, Genus Ordinis Dei and Crossing Eternity!
Evergrey is a progressive metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden. The band was founded in 1995 and released its debut album “The Dark Discovery” (1998). After a short hiatus the band returned with its ninth album Hymns for the Broken, released on September 2014. Their eleventh album “Atlantic” was released on the 25th of January, followed by a two-month European tour they will come to Zagreb.
Their lyrics have always been of the darker sort, and the same can be said of the band’s imagery. While “The Dark Discovery” dealt with a variety of ideas, many later albums have been concept albums, dealing with issues like self-reformation (“Recreation Day”), paranoia, alien abduction (“In Search of Truth”), child abuse, cults, and religion (“The Inner Circle”). With the new album “Atlantic” they continue in the same tone, so we can’t wait to hear them live soon as possible.
Genus Ordinis Dei is a symphonic death metal band from Crema, Italy. The band was established in 2011 by a close circle of professional music instructors who graduated from Italy’s most respected music academies (RGA, MMI, NAM). Over the course of the next two years, the band sculpted its style, melting new millennium metal with symphonic sonorities. During this period the band started to define their artistic and musical identity, developing the idea for a trilogy where the first album to be released would be “Act II” of the story, entitled “The Middle”. Finally, the band independently released their self-produced album “The Middle” in 2013. In Zagreb they will present the new album “Great Olden Dynasty”, which was recorded and produced by Simone Mularoni (Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody, DGM), and features Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) on guest vocals for the song “Salem”.
Bloodred Hourglass are inspired mainly by metal sound, but never disregarding the influences from various other musical genres. Finnish quintet is well-known for their relentless live performances, this band has established their own signature sound and slowly climbed their way towards the top of the metal genre. Firmly grounded in the here and now, the band’s lyrical themes are focused on the individual’s experience of everyday life, as well as environmental issues.
Crossing Eternity is a Romanian-Swedish metal/rock band founded in 2017 by experienced musicians who are truly passionate in the way they approach music. Starting with the recording of their first studio album, “Rising World”, the band members aspired to an organic, old school sound, resisting the temptation of an over production. The adventure started in the summer of 2017, when Manu, the band’s guitarist and main composer entered the studio with a new band in mind a lots of good song ideas. On the way, the rest of the band joined the process of recording and producing, working until everything was well done, in January 2018.
