After five successful underground music compilation releases titled “Balkan under the Radar” (BUTR) and roughly ten thousand downloads, the record label Black Planet Records from Niš is organizing a competition for its upcoming sixth compilation release.
The compilation “Balkan under the Radar” aims to promote interesting acts from Serbia as well as other ex-YU countries. In addition to bands and individual musicians, the compilation hopes to feature any solo artist, project or band that conceptually fits in the forward-thinking music released by Black Planet Records. Another goal was to reconcile two alternative directions which are often separated – bands (performance) and electronic artists (production) – because music should not have boundaries or divisions: “alternative musicians should stand united”, says the label.
Conditions for participating in the competition “Balkan under the Radar: vol. 6” are as follows:
- The track must be original and unreleased.
- The track should not be longer than 15 minutes.
- The track fits within the scope of alternative/unconventional (unusual) music, regardless of genre.
- The artist resides in the ex-YU/Balkan area.
The compilation will be released on the website Free Music Archive with a Creative Commons license, including a free download at Bandcamp.
Send your tracks to firstname.lastname@example.org. Private streaming links or downloads in MP3 192kbs+ format are acceptable. Write who you are, where you come from and the name of the band (project). The deadline for submission is October 1, 2018. This compilation is an annual release; you can find previous releases here or stream them via Bandcamp.
