At Sacrament: Quarantine story

by Natas Dog

In Corona Corner, we are asking musicians how the outbreak has effected them, how did they adapt to the situation, what did they learn. Very young band At Sacrament from heart of South America, Paraguay answer on our question.

Hi! How are you doing during corona outbreak?
We are very motivated because we had time to reencounter with music. While We couldn’t have a normal life. It made us focus in making a good material for the people who listen to Metal music.

What have you cancelled/postponed due coronavirus?
The truth is we haven’t canceled anything because we just started as a band in 2020 but we received the support of many people abroad and in our own country.

How the global coronavirus pandemic is directly impacting bands?
It can affect the presentations, shows, and in many ways the bands, but for us, it also gave us time to finish some pending materials that the band had already composed before. The global impact is impressive, we miss seeing new shows so much.

How are you keeping your fans during this chaotic period?
We think that showing them contents everyday like links of magazines and Radios talking about the band. They can talk about us and our musics and spread the word.

What will metal look like when we re-emerge from isolation?
We think it will be extremely violent. We think that the sound like the lyrics would be clean and clear.  I think there will be a before and after in metal that would fill up concerts or events again because the people got locked up for a long time.

Who will suffer the most after all: musicians, organizers promoters…
We think that all the people who are involved in organizing shows suffer a lot. We are nothing without the organizers and promoters.

What is your isolation soundtrack?
If you mean music, to isolate ourselves and escape we always listen to all kinds of metal. We cannot name only one song because there are too many!

Besides gigs, what/whom do you miss the most?
We miss freedom. The freedom of being able to meet with friends especially. The freedom to travel, the freedom to work even, because the situation in our country is quite complicated.

Do you have any rehearsals during quarantine? If yes, how do they look like?
Yes, we have rehearsals, but it is complicated. In these quarantine times, there were times when we couldn’t rehearse because we couldn’t get out of our houses. Then we went on to another phase more “free” and we could finally get together and play something. But it is not the same, many times not all the members of the band can, so we only rehearse some, or we see a way for everyone to participate in some way. We are confident that everything will improve soon and we will be able to rehearse and perform live for all the people who are looking forward to the shows!

Thank you so much for your time. Stay safe!
