Russian heavy metal titans Aria are to stream “Guest” from the “Shadow Kingdom” in its entirety on the band‘s YouTube channel!
The footage of Aria‘s show filmed in the arena of the VTB Ice Statium in Moscow, Russia on 30 April 2019 was originally released in DVD+2CD format and shown on Russian TV channel REN TV on 29 September 2019.
The show was designed and directed by Yuriy Sokolov, with whom Aria have collaborated on many of their landmark shows in the past. For this specific concert, a unique three-level stage with high-resolution LED screens with a height of 9 meters was erected. The stage backdrop was decorated with a large screen measuring 600 square meters and a unique system that allowed vocalist Mikhail Zhitnyakov to fly over the crowd was designed especially for this show.
Aria’s Vitaly Dubinin says:
This concert video is our freshest release and the biggest so far. This time we had a three-level stage with lots of scenery, LEDs with footage that keeps your eyes peeled, creating a full immersion effect. The sound was louder than usual as we had fill the entire stadium with sound, and that was a vital challenge. The transformer stage allowed us to communicate with all the fans that came to the gig that April night. Thus we managed to connect with every corner of the arena. All natural elements were reproduced during the Guest from the Shadow Kingdom production; we had fire, we had guns full of C02, confetti and a staggering cross, which was the culmination of that crazy concert.
Aria have been synonymous with classic heavy metal made in Russia since 1985. Megastars in their home country and in Eastern Europe, the band did not receive much attention in the Western world until the release of the band’s 13th full-length studio album “Proklyatiye morey” (“Curse of the Seas”) in 2018. The album, mixed by Roy Z and mastered by Maor Appelbaum, was given enthusiastic reviews from all around the world and appearances at the 2019 Keep It True in Germany, the Pyrenean Warriors Open Air in France as well as recent shows in Cologne and Berlin, Germany demonstrated the band’s stellar live qualities.
